11 soldiers from the Kazakhstan Armed Forces were sent to Lebanon to serve in peacekeeping activities within the United Nations (UN) Lebanon Interim Peace Force (UNIFIL).
In the statement made by the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, it was announced that the soldiers, who have undergone multi-stage training in accordance with international standards, will serve within the Indian military unit in the south of Lebanon.
In the statement, it was stated that Kazakh peacekeeping personnel will carry out duties such as overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire within the framework of the authority given by the UN Security Council, monitoring the security situation in the duty area, coordinating with local governments and the public, accompanying humanitarian aid activities, carrying out patrol activities, protecting UN facilities and supporting stability in the region.
In the statement, it was pointed out that Kazakhstan's contribution to the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon was not new, and it was stated that the unit sent to the region was the country's 11th peacekeeping rotation, and it was emphasized that the Kazakh soldiers, who previously served with the Indian military unit within UNIFIL, received high praise from the mission command and international partners throughout their tenure, and stood out with their professionalism, discipline and success in the multinational mission environment.
In the statement, it was stated that Kazakhstan's participation in UN peacekeeping operations constitutes an important part of the country's contribution to international security, and that this both strengthens the country's reputation in the international arena and enables soldiers to gain important field experience by serving in multinational units.
