Adıyaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) Chairman Mehmet Torunoğlu made a statement on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
Emphasizing the unique resistance of the Turkish nation against the treacherous coup attempt, Torunoğlu stated that the business world sided with the national will and the state under all circumstances.
President Torunoğlu stated that what happened on the night of July 15, 2016 was not an ordinary coup attempt, but a treacherous invasion attempt directly targeting the existence, integrity and independence of the Republic of Turkey.
Referring to the epic that the nation wrote that night, Torunoğlu said, "Years ago, we all witnessed the coup attempt of a treacherous network that wanted to plunge the future of our country into darkness and usurp the free will of our nation. However, that dark night was illuminated by the unwavering faith, courage and love of our heroic nation, who filled the squares with the call of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This dear nation, which shielded its chest against warplanes, tanks and guns, lost its life." "Our nation has defended its homeland at all costs and demonstrated to the whole world in the clearest way that sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. Our nation has stood with a steel will against the treacherous groups who want to chain the national will and has proven with its life that it will never compromise on its independence."
President Mehmet Torunoğlu stated that Turkey's economy and business world went through a big test right after the treacherous coup attempt of July 15, and pointed out that maintaining economic stability and continuing production is another front of homeland defense.
Torunoğlu said, "We, as representatives of Adıyaman business world and trade life, are aware that free enterprise, development and economic independence are not possible in a place where there is no democracy. It was not only our parliament and institutions that were targeted by the traitors, but also the economic future of Türkiye. However, during that difficult period, we, as the Turkish business world, never stepped back, we continued to turn the wheels of our factories, produce, provide employment and export with determination. Today, we have the same determination. To raise our country above the level of contemporary civilizations, It is our greatest duty of loyalty to our martyrs to be more active, to produce and to create added value in order to make our economy stronger on a global scale. July 15 is a day of both sadness and great pride. The pain of the 251 sons of our country who marched to martyrdom for their homeland that night is still fresh in our hearts. However, their heroism always reminds us of what a sacred trust they left us, our state, our flag. "We will protect our democracy at all costs. On this meaningful day, I remember with mercy and gratitude all our July 15 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of our country, and I wish a healthy and peaceful life to our veterans who did not give way to traitors.
