Türkiye's Ambassador to Bishkek, Mekin Mustafa Kemal Ökem, said, "It has been revealed many times through confessions and revelations from within the organization that the coup attempt on July 15 was organized by FETO." he said.
"15 July Democracy and National Unity Day" program was held at the Turkish Embassy in Bishkek.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Bishkek Latif Gandilov, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Bishkek Representative Tahir Osman Tahir, Kyrgyzstan-Türkiye Manas University Rector Prof. attended the programme. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan and Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almazbek Ibrayev, Türkiye's Bishkek Embassy employees, TİKA Bishkek Program Coordinatorship, Turkish Red Crescent, Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship State Hospital officials, Kyrgyzstan Meskhetian Turks Association representatives and citizens attended.
Speaking after the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Ökem said, "We have come together to commemorate our beloved martyrs and remember the democracy struggle of our heroic nation on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day." he said.
Reminding that 10 years have passed since the coup attempt of the treacherous Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), which targeted the existence and survival of the Republic of Turkey, Ökem said, "It has been revealed many times with confessions and revelations from within the organization that the coup attempt on July 15 was organized by FETO." he said.
Ökem stated that July 15 was not only a coup attempt but also a bloody terrorist act and said, "The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which is the symbol of the people's sovereignty, was bombed while our MPs were inside. In one night, 253 of our citizens, elderly, children, women and men, were martyred and more than 2 thousand citizens were injured." he said.
Emphasizing that FETO is not only a terrorist organization but also an espionage organization with political and economic ambitions, Ökem explained that the organization exploits young people and places them in state institutions under the guise of education, service and religious-looking structures, and is organized in Türkiye and other countries through front structures operating in various fields.
Ökem said that within the scope of the determined struggle carried out after the coup attempt, FETO members who infiltrated state institutions were brought to justice, and the organization's front structures and networks within the state in areas such as education, media and banking were collapsed.
In the commemoration program, a July 15 themed photo exhibition and a video screening prepared by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Directorate of Communications were held. In the program, the message of Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran was also shared with the participants.
