A commemoration program was held at Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The program held at ESOGÜ Congress and Culture Center started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Then, a video on July 15 was shown. ESOGÜ Faculty of Theology student Muhammet Emin Deniz sang the poem titled 'The Ballad of Heroism'.

Speaking at the program, ESOGÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Kamil Çolak gave a speech on the 10th anniversary of the day when the Turkish nation defended its independence and democracy against the treacherous FETO attempt, which targeted democracy, national will and nation's sovereignty. Rector Çolak said, "10 years have passed since the treacherous FETO uprising. The FETO treason network, which attempted a coup to destroy our democracy by ignoring the national will on July 15, 2016, vilely bombed the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Presidential Complex, and the headquarters of our soldiers and police loyal to their homeland, nation and state, and the traitors went so far as to martyr our civilian citizens who resisted the coup." This betrayal, which was stopped with the upright and determined stance of our nation and the consciousness of unity, was also an example in terms of showing us what imperialism can dare to achieve its dirty goals. Our dear nation, seeing the gravity of the situation on July 15, took to the streets with the calls of our President, stopped the bloody coup attempt that aimed to drag our country into darkness by using its body as a shield, and our nation clearly showed to the world that it will never compromise on the freedom and democracy of the Turkish nation. "Our country is now stronger than before July 15"

Our nation looks to the future with more confidence. The FETO elements that infiltrated our state and created a weakness have been largely eliminated, and it is our duty to do so today. To know very well what happened on the night of July 15, 2016 and what happened behind it, to never forget it and to convey it to future generations in all its aspects, instilling the love of flag, homeland and nation in our youth. With these feelings and thoughts, we celebrate the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, which is the victory day of our nation, and express my gratitude and gratitude to our veterans who were injured while resisting the treacherous attempt; may God have mercy on our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our flag, our homeland and our independence.
