The arrested defendant Uğur Yılmaz (32), who caused the death of Mehmet Kalay (39) by running over him twice with his car during a fight that broke out due to 'speaking' in İlkadım district of SAMSUN, was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The incident took place on July 9, 2025, at around 20:00, behind the İlkadım State Opera and Ballet Directorate in İlkadım district. Uğur Yılmaz, M.Y. (35) and A.G. (38) and Mehmet Kalay (39) and his relative İ.K. An argument broke out between (37) due to 'speaking'. The argument escalated into a fight. During the fight, U.Y. ran over Mehmet Kalay twice with his car. It was determined that Kalay died at the scene. While Kalay's lifeless body was being taken to Samsun Forensic Medicine Group Presidency for autopsy, M.Y. and A.G., who were involved in the fight with Yılmaz, were arrested. and I.K. caught.

He was my dearest friend, I demand my release. I didn't do it on purpose. It was a result of complete carelessness. I thought there was a bump in front of me. There was no such thing as turning back and hitting it again. When I couldn't see anything, I continued. I didn't have the opportunity to run away, I ran to him when I saw him like that. "Their little children became orphans," he said.

The court panel gave its decision after listening to the defendants. While the committee acquitted M.Y., Yılmaz was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
