In Erzincan, due to air temperatures exceeding seasonal norms, livestock breeders are cooling down their cattle, which are distressed by the heat, by leading them into a pond.

The increasing heat in the city is negatively affecting animals as much as humans. Residents engaged in livestock farming in Mertekli Mahallesi are directing their herds of cows, which are distressed in the midday heat, to a pond to cool down.

Veysel Fırat, who herds the cattle, stated that this year's extreme heat has negatively affected the animals.

Fırat, stating that the hot weather sometimes causes animals to fall ill, said that the animals prefer to enter the water to cool down during midday.

Fırat said, "When the temperature rises significantly in the afternoon, the animals head for the water. They enter the pond and stay in the water for a while to cool down. This way, they cope with the effects of the hot weather more comfortably." - ERZİNCAN
