18 birds found injured and exhausted in Hatay were released into the wild after treatment - Last Minute

The injured person and 18 exhausted birds in Hatay were released to their natural habitats after their treatment.

6 kestrels, 6 barn owls, 4 eagles, storks and hawks, found at different times by the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) teams, were treated at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University (HMKÜ) Wild Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.

The birds, whose care and rehabilitation processes were completed by veterinarians, were released into the wild at an event held in Alahan District of the central Antakya district.

Coordinator of the Center Prof. Dr. Muhammed Enes Altuğ stated that wild birds are generally brought to the center with gunshot wounds or other traumatic injuries.

Stating that they released 59 wild animals into nature this year after their treatment, Altuğ stated that they also sent 22 wild birds, which could not return to their natural habitat despite the treatment, to zoos.

Hatay DKMP Director Nuri Akın, HMKÜ Veterinary Faculty Dean Prof. attended the event. Dr. Pınar Peker, academicians and students attended.
