FIFA has announced the referees who will officiate the 2026 World Cup final. Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic will officiate the Argentina-Spain final, to be played on July 19 at the New York/New Jersey Stadium. He will be assisted by his compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic. Jordanian Adham Makhadmeh will serve as the fourth official.
Slavko Vincic, 46, is also a familiar name to the Turkish football public. The experienced referee officiated the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby in the Süper Lig last season, and his performance was a topic of discussion for a long time. He has also officiated in many high-level organizations throughout his career, including UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League finals.
Slavko Vincic experienced highly emotional moments after FIFA Referees Committee Chairman Pierluigi Collina announced the decision. The Slovenian referee, initially surprised, later couldn't hold back his tears.
Vincic stated, "First I was shocked, then I felt immense happiness. I was trembling. Officiating a World Cup final is an incredible honor. This is a dream you've had since the first day you started refereeing." In the footage shared by FIFA, Vincic's emotional moments were also captured by the cameras.
