BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance announced the allocation of 430 million yuan (about 63 million U.S. dollars) from central natural disaster relief funds to support flood control and typhoon relief activities in 10 provincial-level regions.
The funds jointly allocated by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management will be transferred to Guangxi, Zhejiang, Hebei, Liaoning, Tianjin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi and Sichuan, the ministry said on Tuesday.
According to the statement, an additional 150 million yuan was allocated to Guangxi in southern China, in addition to the 190 million yuan previously allocated. The funds in question will be used mainly for evacuating and supporting disaster victims, providing temporary life support, and repairing damaged or destroyed residences in order to re-establish normal life and production in the disaster-affected areas.
The remaining 280 million yuan will be used to support search and rescue activities, evacuation and resettlement activities, emergency risk reduction measures, and steps to identify and eliminate hazards that may lead to secondary disasters in the other nine regions in order to minimize disaster-related losses.
