Pheromone traps were hung in cotton cultivated areas within the scope of Integrated and Controlled Product Management (EKÜY) activities in order to prevent efficiency and quality losses in cotton production in Efeler district of Aydın. Pest populations will be monitored throughout the season with traps and producers will be informed in a timely manner.
Within the scope of the activities carried out by the Efeler District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, pheromone traps were set up to monitor the population development of pests that can cause economic losses in cotton production areas. The aim of the application carried out within the framework of the EKUY program is to regularly monitor the pest density.
Thanks to the traps set, the population development of Greenworm (Helicoverpa armigera), Cotton Leafworm (Spodoptera littoralis) and Striped Cotton Leafworm (Spodoptera exigua) pests, which can cause significant yield and quality losses in cotton, will be regularly monitored. In line with the data obtained, necessary information will be provided to producers and pests will be combated at the right time and with appropriate methods.
District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams aim to prevent unnecessary use of plant protection products, to disseminate environmentally friendly control methods and to enable producers to produce efficient and high-quality cotton with more conscious practices through monitoring activities to be carried out by technical personnel throughout the season. - AYDIN
