Speaking at the 15 July Democracy and Unity Day program held in Burdur, Niyazi Altay, son of martyr Special Operations Police Officer Akif Altay, said, "I am not someone who learned about July 15 from television screens. I am one of those who experienced July 15 after losing their father. For me, that night is not just the date of a coup attempt. For me, that night is the night that divides a child's life into two."
Martyrs were commemorated in Burdur on the 10th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt organized by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016. The program, which started with a cortege march on Gazi Street, continued with a moment of silence in Cumhuriyet Square and activities in Cumhuriyet Square after the reading of the National Anthem.

Speaking in the program, Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan said, "Tonight, we are together in Cumhuriyet Square to commemorate the night of July 15, which was written in indelible letters in the memory of our nation, and to feel in our hearts once again the great resistance, sacrifice and love of the country shown that night. On the night of July 15, 2016, there was a treacherous attempt against the existence of our state, the will of our nation, our democracy and our future. The weapons purchased with the means of our nation were intended to be turned against this nation. "The institutions entrusted to the nation were intended to be used to attack the will of the nation, but this dark plan was shattered by hitting the faith-filled chest, unshakable foresight and love of the homeland of our beloved nation under the leadership of our President," he said.

Niyazi Altay, son of Special Operations Police Akif Altay, who was martyred in the bomb attack carried out with an F-16 plane on the Gölbaşı Special Operations Department on the night of July 15, said, "I am not here today just to make a speech, I am here today as a child, as the trust of a martyr. When I speak here today, not only the words that come out of my lips speak. Today, a longing that I have been growing inside me for years speaks here.
