The driver, who was seriously injured in the accident where the car hit the barriers and caught fire in Malatya, died in the hospital where he was treated. The number of deaths in the accident increased to 2.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, July 14, in Yağmurlu Mahallesi, Akçadağ district, on the Northern Ring Road. According to the information obtained, the car driven by Mehmet Ali Ergin (61) crashed into the barriers as a result of the driver losing control of the steering wheel. The car, which went out of control due to the impact and was thrown to the side of the road, caught fire in a short time. The flames in the vehicle spread to the apricot orchard on the side of the road.

Upon notice, fire brigade, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. While the flames were taken under control and extinguished with the intervention of the fire brigade, it was determined that Abdulkadir Ergin (29), who was in the vehicle, died at the scene during the check by the medical teams. The seriously injured driver, Mehmet Ali Ergin, was taken to Malatya Turgut Özal Medical Center by ambulance. Mehmet Ali Ergin, who was treated in the intensive care unit, lost his fight for life despite all the interventions.

It was learned that the bodies of the father and son who lost their lives in the accident were buried with prayers after the funeral ceremony held at Budalababa Cemetery in Akçadağ district. - MALATYA
