A commemoration program was held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The program held at the Embassy, hosted by Türkiye's Ambassador to Bucharest Özgür Kıvanç Altan, started with a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives in FETO's treacherous coup attempt of July 15, the reading of the National Anthem and the recitation of the Holy Quran.
Speaking at the program attended by representatives of non-governmental organizations and Turkish citizens living in Romania, Ambassador Altan stated that the Turkish nation protects the national will and democracy at the cost of its life.
Reminding that many FETO-affiliated schools abroad were transferred to the Turkish Maarif Foundation, Altan said, "The Maarif Foundation opened new schools in many countries, including Romania. We want to further our cooperation with our Romanian friends on this issue." he said.
In the program contributed by Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), Maarif Foundation and Union of International Democrats (UID), the exhibition consisting of photographs taken by AA reporters on the night of the coup attempt and symbolizing the resistance was opened to the visitors of the participants.
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) organized a documentary screening program in Bucharest on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The documentary titled "July 15 from the eyes of foreigners", prepared by the Presidency Directorate of Communications, about the coup attempt on July 15, 2016 and the Turkish nation's struggle to protect democracy, was watched with the participation of many people, especially Turkish citizens living in Romania and their compatriots.
