The traditional livestock farming method in Bursa's Karacabey district attracts the attention of those who see it. Local black cattle raised in Ekmekçi, Boğazköy, Bayramdere and Yeniköy neighborhoods are fed in a completely natural environment in the mountains and forest areas for approximately 2.5 years. The animals, which rest under the shade of linden trees in summer and survive in harsh natural conditions in winter, are taken down from the mountains by their owners before Eid al-Adha and prepared for sale.
Local black cattle, raised with the traditional method that has been maintained for many years in the mountainous parts of Karacabey, spend most of the year in nature. In animal husbandry, which is one of the important sources of income of the people of the region, the animals are fed with the grass they find in the forest areas. Local black cattle, known for their durable structure, grow in natural life and attract attention with both their meat quality and healthy development.
Ekmekçi District Headman Ramazan Diğrenci said that the livestock farming model implemented in the region has continued unchanged for years. Diğrenci said, "Local black cattle are bred in this region of Karacabey. Our animals graze freely in the mountains, but they are not homeless. This livestock farming is one of the most important sources of income for our citizens living in the Ekmekçi, Boğazköy, Bayramdere and Yeniköy neighborhoods. Since they are constantly in nature, they are quite resistant to heat and cold. Sometimes, when it is difficult to go up the mountain, when we go back days later, we see that the cow has given birth to its calf and started to raise it. They live their lives in nature with their own means. "They continue," he said.
Stating that the animals do not consume any artificial feed until they are approximately 2.5 years old, Diğrenci said, "Our animals are fed entirely with natural grass. When Eid al-Adha approaches, we complete their care and fattening by taking them to our roofs about 3-5 months before. Apart from that, they live their lives completely in nature. For this reason, we can say that they are one of the most natural sacrificial animals." - BURSA
