Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu published a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
In his message, Governor Zorluoğlu stated that he commemorated the martyrs with mercy on the 10th anniversary of the July 15 treacherous coup attempt, one of the greatest betrayals experienced by the ancient lands and the nation, and wished a healthy and long life to the heroic veterans.
Expressing his gratitude to the nation who took to the streets upon the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, filled the squares, claimed their own will and future, and turned that dark night into light, Zorluoğlu said:
"This vile coup attempt, which was thwarted by the epic struggle fought shoulder to shoulder by our nation and our heroic security forces, remains fresh in our memories as one of the most important turning points in our history. That night, our citizens, who put aside their differences and united around the same ideal, broke this despicable game, broke the dirty hands that wanted to reach out to their state, democracy and their own elected leaders, and showed the whole world that there can be no power above the national will. The 10 years that have passed have shown us "It reminds us once again that unity and solidarity are our greatest strength. July 15 is not only the date when a coup attempt was prevented, but also the name of a victory in which our nation's common conscience, solidarity and commitment to democracy were written in golden letters in history. Our duty today is to keep the spirit of July 15 alive, to protect the trust of our martyrs, to always remember the sacrifices of our veterans with gratitude and to continue our activities with the same determination for the peace, security and bright future of our country."
Zorluoğlu stated that he congratulated all his fellow citizens on the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day with his most heartfelt feelings and expressed his love and respect to the citizens of Diyarbakır who defended their national will.
