The "Sancak Run", organized by the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports for the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day, was held on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at 20.30. In the race that started in front of the Nation Monument, the athletes proudly carried the flag along the Doktorlar Street and İki Eylül Street route and reached the finishing point, Governorship Square. 8-year-old Zeynep Hadime, who took part in the Sancak Race, expressed her happiness with the atmosphere at the event and her dream of becoming an athlete. Little Zeynep said, "It is a very nice race. I want to be a great athlete when I grow up."
Another little participant of the Sancak race, 10-year-old Alper Duru, explained his satisfaction in participating in the event organized for July 15. Upon the statements directed to him, "An event is being held here today for July 15, you are participating in it," Duru said, "Yes, I love it. I am glad I came. I recommend them to do sports because they can go to competitions and be the first."
