Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters (IzBBŞT) General Art Director and theater actor Levent Üzümcü announced that he was taken into custody by sharing a post on his social media account after midnight.
In the morning, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced with a brief information that Üzümcü was detained within the scope of an investigation, and the statement said, "Within the scope of the investigation carried out by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect Levent Üzümcü, who was determined to be the user of the X account with the nickname @LeventUzumcu, was taken into custody."
Üzümcü, who was detained by gendarmerie teams in Balıkesir Burhaniye and brought to Istanbul, gave a statement to the prosecutor at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Following the statement, Üzümcü was accused of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" and was referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest.
The judgeship ordered Üzümcü's release by ordering house arrest as part of the judicial control measure.
