In the case where Bülent Arpacı, who killed Merve Nur Yararlık (22) and injured S.K. in a cafe at the entrance of a shopping mall in DIYARBAKIR, is being tried in detention, father Osman Yararlık, who had previously withdrawn his complaint against the defendant, filed a complaint again. Yararlık said, "I was told that the incident was accidental, but I think it was not accidental. I am filing a complaint."
The incident took place on March 8, 2025, at the cafe at the entrance of the shopping center on Şanlıurfa highway. Bülent Arpacı came to the cafe and opened fire with a gun from outside. The bullet from the gun hit the neck of Merve Nur Yararlık, who was sitting in the cafe. In the incident captured on the security camera, S.K. The man named was also injured. Upon notice, health and police teams were dispatched to the address. Under the control of paramedics, it was determined that Yararlık had died, S.K. He was treated in the hospital where he was taken after his first aid. Merve Nur Yararlık's body was buried in Yeniköy Asri Cemetery after the autopsy at the Forensic Medicine Institute.
Murder suspect Bülent Arpacı was caught by the teams of the Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau in an operation in the Pirinçlik area. Arpacı, who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures, was sent to prison in the courthouse.
The indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the detained defendant Bülent Arpacı was accepted by the 3rd High Criminal Court. In the indictment, aggravated life imprisonment and a prison sentence of 15 to 24 years were requested for the detained defendant Bülent Arpacı for the crimes of 'deliberate murder', 'attempted intentional murder' and 'purchasing, carrying or possessing an unlicensed firearm and bullets'. In the indictment, it was stated that with the petition submitted to the file on May 20, Merve Nur Yararlık's father gave up his complaint, claiming that her death occurred accidentally, and her mother stated that she was not a complainant.

My little children who were preparing for the exams were negatively affected by this incident. The other party sent us around 1 million TL through intermediaries. Since we were already interested in condolences, the money given in that process went to expenses. If they want, we can return the money sent. At first, I was told that the incident was accidental, but I said that the incident was intentional and "I think it wasn't an accident, that's why I'm complaining," he said.
The hearing was postponed to September 29 to await the report to be prepared about the defendant Bülent Arpacı, who was previously referred to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute to determine whether he was mentally healthy.
