Arif Güran, the father of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after she disappeared in Diyarbakır, came to the Republican People's Party (CHP) Headquarters in Ankara. Güran met with CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
Making a statement to journalists in front of the headquarters building, Arif Güran said, "We requested an appointment a few days ago, but thank you, they accepted us. I would like to thank everyone who stood by us and shared our pain during this difficult process."
The detained defendants, mother Yüksel, older brother Enes and uncle Salim Güran, who were tried in the case of the murder of Narin Güran, who disappeared on August 21, 2024 in the Tavşantepe District of Diyarbakır's central Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found in the Eğtutmaz Stream on September 8, 2024, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional murder against the child in the event of participation", Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing or altering criminal evidence", and Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice 1st Criminal Chamber found the verdict given to the defendants by the first instance court to be lawful. The 1st Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals approved the aggravated life imprisonment sentence given to the detained defendants Yüksel, Enes and Salim Güran, and overturned the 4 years and 6 months prison sentence given to Nevzat Bahtiyar, so that it could be evaluated within the scope of "aiding the crime of qualified premeditated murder".
The court decided that neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who was retried on April 16, should be sentenced to 17 years in prison for "aiding aggravated deliberate murder" and that his detention should continue.
