Commemorative events were held at Hıdırlık Social Facilities on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Tokat Governor Abdullah Köklü, Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu, Gaziosmanpaşa University Rector Prof. attended the commemoration program. Dr. Fatih Yılmaz, political party representatives, non-governmental organization representatives and citizens attended. The program started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Tokat Municipality Mehteran band gave a concert.
Speaking to the program, Tokat Governor Abdullah Köklü said, "Today, on the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, we have come together with the motto 'The Will is Ours, the Victory is Ours'. Exactly 10 years ago, one of the darkest nights of our history was brought to light with the unshakable will of our nation, and it was shown to the whole world what it means to be a nation in the face of betrayal. The Turkish nation has endured many hardships in unity and solidarity in its thousand-year history. "Our beloved nation, which made these lands a homeland in Malazgirt, made people say 'Çanakkale Impassable' in Çanakkale, and never compromised on its independence in the War of Independence, added another epic to its history by defeating the invasion attempt of FETO traitors who infiltrated our state on the night of July 15, with the support of foreign powers," he said.
Following Governor Köklü's speech, Tokat residents watched President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's address to the nation on the giant screen and continued their vigil throughout the night.
