Trabzon undershirt was registered with a geographical indication by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).
According to the statement made by Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO), with the Trabzon undershirt, the number of geographically indicated products of the city increased to 15.
As a result of the activity carried out under the application and registration ownership of Faroz Social Culture and Solidarity Association and with the contribution and support of TTSO, Trabzon undershirt, one of the traditional woven products of the city, received a geographical indication certificate.
TTSO President Erkut Çelebi, whose views were included in the statement, stated that they provided the best support they could to geographical indication activities and that they were still making preparations for nearly 30 products.
Association President Mahir Sevgül thanked Çelebi and TTSO for their support and said, "Our aim was to transfer the Trabzon undershirt, which dates back hundreds of years and is among the handicrafts that are about to disappear, to future generations. In this sense, we attach great importance to obtaining the Geographical Indication Registration Certificate. We thank TTSO for their contribution to this process." he said.
