BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- A plan to strengthen the prevention and control of solid waste pollution during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030) in China has been published.
According to the plan jointly published by six government departments, including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the National Development and Reform Commission, it is aimed to make significant progress in reducing solid waste pollution in key areas by 2030, effectively control the waste accumulated from previous years, prevent widespread illegal solid waste dumping and improper disposal, and significantly increase the comprehensive solid waste management capacity.
It is also planned to establish an integrated digital control network covering key areas and build "zero waste cities" by 2030.
The plan envisages carrying out coordinated activities in order to solve the problems that need urgent attention and strengthen systematic governance. In this context, it is aimed to identify and eliminate environmental risks and increase supervision at all stages of the solid waste management chain.
