BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The Long March-5 Y14 carrier rocket, which will be used in China's Chang'e-7 lunar exploration mission, has arrived at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern Hainan province of the country.
In the statement made on Monday by the China Manned Space Agency, it was stated that the carrier rocket will undergo assembly and testing processes together with the Chang'e-7 Lunar exploration vehicle, which was transported to the launch site in April.
Chang'e-7 is planned to be launched in the second half of the year. Within the scope of the mission, it is aimed to make breakthroughs in many critical technologies such as high-precision soft landing on the lunar surface, movement with mechanical legs, jumping and the discovery of craters that are constantly in shadow.
The mission will use a comprehensive exploration method that includes observation from orbit, landing, surface locomotion and bounce to conduct environmental and resource surveys at the Moon's south pole. The agency stated that the mission will also be carried out within the scope of international cooperation.
