BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- China's value-added industrial production recorded steady growth in the first half of the year, with strong performance reported in the equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing sectors.
According to data announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday, the country's value-added industrial production increased by 5.4 percent in the said period compared to the same period last year.
Industrial production data is used to measure the activities of large enterprises with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about 2.95 million US dollars).
When examined on a sector basis, value-added production increased by 3.6 percent in the mining sector and 5.6 percent in the manufacturing sector. According to the data, value-added production of the electricity, heating, natural gas and water production and supply sectors also increased by 5.5 percent.
