China's Foreign Trade in Yuan Increased by 16.9 Percent in the First Half of the Year - Last Minute

BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- China's foreign trade in yuan increased by 16.9 percent in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year.

According to the data announced by the General Administration of Customs of China on Tuesday, the total import and export volume of goods reached 25.47 trillion yuan (about 3.75 trillion US dollars) in the January-June period, exceeding the 25 trillion yuan threshold for the first time in the said period.

During this period, exports reached 14.73 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.4 percent compared to last year, and maintained its growth trend for 11 consecutive quarters. Imports increased by 22.1 percent compared to last year and reached 10.74 trillion yuan. The fact that the import growth rate outpaced exports by 8.7 points contributed to the development of balanced trade.

In the statement of the Administration, it was stated that despite the complex and variable conjuncture, China's foreign trade maintained its positive course and displayed a strong growth momentum and stable performance.
