KUWAIT, July 13 (Xinhua) -- China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East won the tender for the construction of the new headquarters of the Kuwait Direct Investments Promotion Authority.
Within the scope of the project, the Chinese company will build a 55-storey skyscraper with 5 floors of underground parking in Sharq, the commercial center on the Gulf coast in Kuwait, the capital of Kuwait. There will be offices in the 275 meter high skyscraper.
In a statement made by the Kuwait Central Public Procurement Agency on Sunday, it was stated that the Chinese company was entitled to become the main contractor after an international competitive tender process.
Designed as a modern state complex, the skyscraper will include a center where services for investors will be provided from a single point, administrative offices and conference halls. Energy-saving systems such as double-glazed curtain walls, smart building management technologies and landscaped sky gardens will be used in the skyscraper.
Construction activities, which are planned to last 24 months, are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2028.
The Direct Investments Promotion Authority, established to advance the Kuwait Vision 2035, plays a key role in moving economic diversification to non-oil sectors. Providing integrated services within a framework ranging from licensing and tax incentives to investor support, the institution supports foreign investments.
China State Civil Engineering Company Middle East has previously undertaken major public projects such as the headquarters of the Central Bank of Kuwait and important facilities at Kuwait University. It is stated that the latest project will further strengthen the company's presence in the region.
