Camp resident Ali Al-Adaw, who was displaced due to Israeli attacks, said that a group of Palestinian artists painted the mural in question to commemorate the martyr hero Ömer Halisdemir. Al-Adaw said, "We are currently in the north of Nusayrat. A mural was painted here in memory of the martyr Turkish hero Ömer Halisdemir on the 10th anniversary of the failed military coup attempt in Türkiye. This activity reflects the strong ties between the Palestinian people in Gaza and the brotherly Turkish people."

"We wanted to show that we will never forget our martyrs in Türkiye, just as we have not forgotten our martyrs in Gaza."

Palestinian artist Abdel Muti Ashour stated that a group of Palestinian artists prepared this activity together among the rubble of houses destroyed in the war in Gaza. Ashour said, "Together with my artist friends, we painted this mural on the rubble of destroyed houses in Gaza for the martyr Ömer Halisdemir, who resisted the coup attempt in Türkiye at the cost of his life. With this work, we wanted to show the world that we will never forget our martyrs in Türkiye, just as we have not forgotten our martyrs in Gaza."

While the mural shows how strong the human and historical ties between the Palestinian and Turkish people are, despite all the difficulties experienced in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian artists continue to use art as a message of remembrance and solidarity. - GAZA STRIP
