Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi claimed that the USA threatened the member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) with sanctions, visa cancellation and political pressure to stop cooperation with the court.
According to Tesnim News Agency, Garibabadi made a statement on the issue.
Garibabadi accused the Washington administration of operating to pressure the countries that are parties to the ICC in order to protect the US and Israeli administration and military officials from legal processes.
The Iranian official stated that the pressures in question were aimed at cutting off cooperation with the court and stated that this was "a clear blackmail and intimidation attempt to prevent justice from reaching the defendants on the US and Israeli side."
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in his opinion article published in the Wall Street Journal yesterday, stated that the ICC threatened the sovereignty of the USA and announced that the Washington administration would call on other countries to withdraw from the court.
