Search and rescue activities initiated to find 28-year-old Erkan Sak, who disappeared in the waters of the Habur Stream 8 days ago in Şırnak's Beytüşşebap district, continue uninterruptedly, using all the possibilities offered by technology.
The search activities initiated to find 28-year-old Erkan Sak, who disappeared in the Habur Stream in Şırnak's Beytüşşebap district, continues on the 8th day. While AFAD scanned the 21-kilometer line across the border, inch by inch, with special permission obtained with night vision, thermal camera and artificial intelligence-supported drones, the teams mobilized all the possibilities of technology. In the activities carried out under the coordination of AFAD, the flow route of the Habur Stream is meticulously scanned both by land and air, starting from the point where the drowning incident occurred. In regions where difficult terrain and strong currents make the activities of the teams difficult, state-of-the-art night vision, thermal camera and artificial intelligence-supported drones have been put into operation.
AFAD's unmanned aerial vehicle continues its aerial reconnaissance and scanning activities on a route of approximately 21 kilometers within the borders of Iraq along the Habur Stream. During the flights, stones in the stream bed, trees, rocky areas, animals and all suspicious objects are examined one by one with the high zoom feature. The images obtained are instantly transferred to the search center and evaluated in detail by the teams with artificial intelligence-supported analysis systems.
Despite the steep structure of the valley, deep water crossings and natural obstacles that make transportation difficult, AFAD, gendarmerie, police and other search and rescue teams continue their activities day and night. It is aimed to carry out search activities more effectively and comprehensively, especially thanks to thermal imaging, night vision systems and advanced image analysis technologies.
While the teams are mobilizing all their resources to reach Erkan Sak in the search activities, which are on their 8th day, the vigil of hope continues uninterruptedly along the Habur Stream. Authorities stated that search activities will continue with the same determination until results are obtained. - ŞIRNAK
