The management crisis in CHP has moved to the next level. After the CHP Headquarters did not accept the signatures collected for the congress, the Özgür Özel front applied to the Civil Court of Peace.

CHP congress delegates filed a lawsuit in Ankara Civil Court of Peace after the signatures they collected for the extraordinary congress request were not processed.

In the petition, it was requested that three congress delegates be assigned as a call committee to convene the CHP Extraordinary Congress.

In the information note shared with the public regarding the application, it was stated that "833 of the Republican People's Party congress delegates requested a notary-approved extraordinary congress with a common agenda in order to re-establish democratic legitimacy within the party."

According to the statement, the signatures of the delegates representing more than two-thirds of the total number of congress members were collected within the 15-day period stipulated in the CHP Charter and delivered to the Headquarters on June 17, 2026. However, it was stated that no extraordinary congress call has been made since this date.

In the statement, it was stated that a lawsuit was filed in the Ankara Civil Court of Peace in accordance with Article 75 of the Turkish Civil Code, and that three congress delegates, whose names will be announced later, were requested to be appointed as a "call committee" to convene the extraordinary congress.

In the statement, it was pointed out that in the decisions of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Appeals, the request for an extraordinary congress by a sufficient number of delegates is not subject to the discretion of the party management, and it was argued that this will legally binds the party management.

In the information note, it was stated that the lawsuit filed "aims to exercise the rights of 833 congress delegates arising from the law and the CHP Charter, to ensure democratic functioning within the party and to convene the congress, which is the highest decision-making body of the party."
