It was reported that a former official who was said to be responsible for the production of sarin gas depots and chemical weapons during the deposed Bashar Assad regime in Syria was captured in the city of Latakia.
According to the news of Syrian official news agency SANA, based on sources of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a high-ranking official who was found to be responsible for the production of chemical weapons, especially sarin gas, during the deposed regime period was caught and taken into custody.
During the civil war in Syria, many chemical weapons attacks were carried out against civilians, especially by forces affiliated with the Assad regime.
The most well-known of these attacks include the sarin gas attack in the Ghouta suburb of Damascus in August 2013, in which more than 1,400 people lost their lives, and the chemical attack in the Khan Sheikhun region of Idlib in April 2017.
