US President Donald Trump announced that the US naval blockade against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz has come into effect again and that a 20 percent transit fee will be charged for all cargo passing through the strait.
"The Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain open with or without Iran," Trump said in his post on his social media account. he said.
Emphasizing that they only prevented Iranian ships and customers operating on behalf of Iran from entering and exiting the Bosphorus, Trump noted that this practice came into force under the name of "Iran blockade".
Trump stated that all other countries can use the Strait of Hormuz fairly and openly and said, "The USA will henceforth be known as the 'Protector of the Strait of Hormuz'." he said.
Drawing attention to the cost of ensuring security in the region, Trump said, "A 20 percent transit fee will be charged for all cargo passing through the strait, within the scope of all expenses necessary to ensure security and safety in this extremely unstable region of the world." he said.
Trump stated that the application will come into effect immediately.
