Regarding the Ukrainian Parliament's approval of the Turkey-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat said, "With the agreement, approximately 90 percent of the trade between the two countries will be mutually liberalized, and the competitiveness of our exporters in the Ukrainian market will be strengthened." he said.
In his post on his NSosyal account, Bolat evaluated the Ukrainian Parliament's approval of the Türkiye-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement.
Stating that the agreement, whose approval process was completed in Türkiye in 2024, was crossed by another historical threshold, and was approved by the Ukrainian Parliament today, Bolat stated that an important stage has been left behind for the agreement to come into force.
Bolat pointed out that the doors of a new era have opened in the economic and commercial cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine and said:
"Our total trade volume, which was 6.2 billion dollars in 2024 and 6.6 billion dollars in 2025, increased by 10 percent in the first 6 months of the year, reaching approximately 3.2 billion US dollars. With the agreement, approximately 90 percent of the trade between the two countries will be mutually liberalized, and the competitiveness of our exporters in the Ukrainian market will be strengthened. In addition, our logistics activities will be strengthened with the facilities to be provided in service trade, and our mutual investments with our contracting services will be under a more transparent and secure legal framework. "Thus, we will be one step closer to reaching the 10 billion USD target of the trade volume between our countries, jointly determined by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the President of Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskiy. As the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, we hope that this important situation, which will further deepen our economic relations with Ukraine, will be beneficial to our exporters, our business world and both countries."
