The event does not qualify as a sporting race. The organization was planned as a symbolic commemoration march in which citizens from all segments of society could participate. Therefore, participants who meet the necessary conditions will be able to take part in the walk, regardless of age.
Ahmet Karadağ, President of the Turkish Athletics Federation, drew attention to the moral value of the organization and made the following evaluation:
"We will hold the July 15 Democracy and Martyrs' Commemoration March, which has a great meaning, to once again proudly commemorate the will of our nation, its unshakable stance and the memory of our beloved martyrs. This valuable organization is not a field of competition or a race for our athletes, but a march of honor of a nation. With the motto 'Our Will, Our Victory', we will step as one heart, in the footsteps of our heroes who defend our democracy."
Organizers recommend that participants be present at the venue before the event start time and complete the registration process on time.
The 2026 organization will be held in Istanbul. While the starting point of the march will be Zincirlikuyu, the event will end at the July 15 Martyrs' Authority.
Along the determined route, participants will commemorate the martyrs of July 15 by walking towards one of the symbolic points of the struggle for democracy. Security and medical teams will also be present on the route throughout the organization.
Since the march is open to the public and free, high participation is expected. For this reason, it is recommended to prefer transportation to the event area by public transportation. Since temporary traffic regulations may be applied on some routes in Istanbul due to the event, it is important for drivers to follow the announcements made by official institutions.
At the end of the event, commemorative medals and various gifts will be given to citizens who participated in the organization. Thus, participants will both take part in a meaningful commemoration program and have the opportunity to receive souvenir awards prepared in memory of the day.
Citizens who want to participate in the walk must complete their applications through the official registration system opened by the Turkish Athletics Federation. Registration for the organization is carried out through the official application page of the federation.
