This year, as every year, martyrs will be commemorated with greetings expected to be recited in mosques across Türkiye, and democracy watches will continue with prayers.
In 2026, on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, it is expected that mosques will recite sela on the night between July 15 and July 16. It is envisaged that the implementation will be carried out simultaneously throughout the country, as in previous years.
As in previous years, it is expected that the sela will be recited simultaneously from mosques in 81 provinces of Türkiye at 00.13 on the night of July 16. If there is no change in the official schedule, it is expected that the same hours will continue this year.
As part of the July 15 commemoration programs, the lights of the mosque minarets will be left on until the morning after the sela is recited. This practice is carried out every year to commemorate the martyrs of July 15 and to keep the spirit of national unity alive.
