European stock markets completed the second trading day of the week with an increase, with the US-Iran tension and the situations regarding the Strait of Hormuz on the agenda.

At the close, the benchmark index Stoxx Europe 600 increased by 0.17 percent to 642.1 points.

In England, the FTSE 100 index increased by 0.3 percent to 10,529.36, in Germany, the DAX 40 index increased by 0.13 percent to 25,147.03, in France, the CAC 40 index increased by 0.03 percent to 8,366.85, and in Italy, the FTSE MIB 30 index increased by 0.1 percent and closed at 52,862.5 points.

Euro/dollar parity increased by 0.4 percent to 1.143 as of 19.18 Turkish lira.

European markets focused on the escalating tension between the USA and Iran and the situations related to the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump announced that they will make trade and investment agreements with various Gulf countries instead of the 20 percent toll fee he plans to collect from all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

It has been reported that German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) may lay off approximately 50 thousand more people worldwide in order to make its costs competitive.
