The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul lost 0.32 percent of its value in the first half of the day, falling to 14,047.06 points.

BIST 100 index, which moved in a downward trend in the first half of the day, dropped to 14,047.06 points as of 13:00, with a decrease of 44.96 points and 0.32 percent compared to the previous closing.

The total transaction volume was 79 billion lira. The banking index gained 1.38 percent and the holding index gained 0.34 percent.

Among the sector indices, the one that increased the most was textile leather with 1.97 percent, and the one that lost the most was financial leasing factoring with 9.3 percent.

Global markets are mixed as tensions between the USA and Iran escalate in the Middle East.

In response to US President Donald Trump's announcement that the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz has been reinstated and that a 20 percent toll will be collected from all ships passing through the strait, the Iranian side stated that they will not allow the US to intervene in the Strait of Hormuz.

Analysts stated that the news flow regarding the situations in the Middle East, especially the inflation data in the USA, will be followed for the rest of the day. Technically, 14,000 and 13,900 points in the BIST 100 index are in the support position, and 14,100 and 14,250 points are in the resistance position.
