Under the coordination of Mersin Provincial Police Department, a simultaneous 'narco field' application was carried out in the city center and districts to prevent drug use and trafficking, to capture wanted persons and to ensure public order. 3,214 people and 1,454 vehicles were questioned.
The application, organized under the coordination of the Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch Directorate, was carried out with the participation of 76 teams and 234 personnel at 24 different points throughout the province. A total of 3,214 people and 1,454 vehicles were questioned during the inspections.
Within the scope of the application, a total of 532 thousand 776 lira administrative fines were imposed on 10 vehicle drivers who were determined to have violated traffic rules. In addition, during the checks, 29 evaders and 2 people wanted for various crimes were caught and necessary proceedings were initiated against them.
During the inspections, 5 synthetic drugs, 3.87 grams of marijuana, 5.62 grams of bonzai, 10 ecstasy pills and 1.21 grams of powdered ecstasy were seized from 6 people who were checked on suspicion. Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspects within the scope of Article 191 of the Turkish Penal Code for the crime of 'purchasing, accepting, possessing or using drugs or stimulants'.
