Making the opening speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yiğit Kazançoğlu said, "July 15 has left deep traces in our collective memory. Yaşar University Faculty of Business Administration Dean Prof. Dr. Referring to Türkiye's experiences at the conference, Hasan Fehmi Baklacı said, "Our historical experience shows us that coups directly target economic confidence as well as political order. Past interventions have suspended democratic legitimacy and created permanent breaks in social memory. For example, the coup of September 12, 1980 not only closed the Turkish Grand National Assembly and weakened fundamental rights, but also had a very heavy economic cost, with inflation reaching nearly 100 percent and purchasing power falling." "This process has shown us that development can be sustained not only with economic programs, but only with law and democratic legitimacy," he said.

Giving examples of the economic effects of the coup attempt, Prof. Dr. Baklacı said:
"The coup attempt of July 15, 2016, which we experienced in our recent history, also caused a serious shock of confidence in our economy. Although the attempt failed, it caused uncertainty in the financial markets, caused investments to be postponed, and caused our tourism income, which was 31.5 billion dollars in 2015, to decline to 22.1 billion dollars in 2016. However, repelling this attempt with the will of our nation protected not only our democracy but also our economic life. If this attempt had been successful, capital The outflows would accelerate and investments would freeze completely. The prevention of the coup ensured the continuity of legitimate institutions and gave the message of 'continuity' to the markets. July 15 showed us once again that when democracy weakens, the whole society suffers and the economy grows in an environment of trust based on law, stability and legitimate management. Türkiye's future lies not in extraordinary interventions, but in strengthening the institutions of the Republic, protecting the rule of law and strengthening social trust.
