Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) President Gürsel Baran stated that they hosted Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Minister of Manpower, Employment and Labor of Ghana, and said, "The trade volume between Turkey and Ghana has reached 844 million dollars as of 2025. We are now very close to our 1 billion dollar trade target." he said.

In his written statement, Baran stated that he hosted Minister Pelpuo and his accompanying delegation in his office.

Stating that the development of commercial and economic relations between Turkey and Ghana, investment opportunities and cooperation opportunities between the business world were discussed during the meeting, Baran pointed out that the relations have gained momentum within the framework of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's African expansion vision.

Baran emphasized that the relations between the two countries are getting stronger day by day after President Erdoğan's visit to Ghana in 2016, and said, "The trade volume between Turkey and Ghana has reached 844 million dollars by 2025. We are now very close to our 1 billion dollar trade target. I believe that we will exceed this target in a short time. The negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Ghana have been completed, but it has not been signed yet. Projects carried out by Turkish contractors in Ghana

Stating that Turkish Airlines' (THY) direct flights between Istanbul and Accra provide significant convenience for the business world, Baran noted that transportation opportunities also strengthen commercial relations.

Baran pointed out that the Turkish contracting sector has undertaken important projects in Ghana and said:

"Our successful and experienced Turkish contractors in the energy, construction and infrastructure sectors have made significant contributions to the country's infrastructure by carrying out more than 15 projects worth more than 800 million dollars in Ghana to date. Approximately 800 Turkish companies doing business in various fields, especially in the energy sector, contribute to the economic development of your country."

"Free trade agreement will be prioritized"

Minister Pelpuo, whose views were included in the statement, stated that many people from Ghana came to Türkiye to receive health services and that he was among those who received health services in Türkiye.

Stating that many people from Ghana prefer THY to go to European countries, Pelpuo emphasized that they will include the issue of how to accelerate the free trade agreement process among their priority activities.

Pelpuo also noted that Türkiye is rapidly leaving behind its position as a country in a difficult situation and is now setting an example.
