Sevil Işıktekin (38), who was beaten and killed by her lover in Menteşe district of MUĞLA, was sent off on her last journey with tears. At the funeral, women carried Işıktekin's coffin.
The incident took place the previous day at around 23.30 in Menteşe's Orhaniye District. An argument broke out between Niyazi Bahçe and his girlfriend Sevil Işıktekin. During the argument, Bahçe beat Işıktekin. Upon the notice of the surrounding people, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Sevil Işıktekin, who was taken to Muğla Training and Research Hospital by ambulance, died at noon yesterday. Niyazi Bahçe, on the other hand, was sent to prison at the courthouse where he was transferred after his procedures at the police.
Sevil Işıktekin's body was received after the autopsy at the Muğla Forensic Medicine Institute and brought to Menteşe Kurşunlu Mosque. Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık, Menteşe Mayor Gonca Köksal Aras, Işıktekin's relatives and many people attended the funeral. After the prayer at noon, Sevil Işıktekin's coffin was carried on the shoulders of the women to the hearse. Işıktekin's body was taken to the City New Cemetery and buried.
