Gaziantep Gençlikspor, which is preparing for its second season in the Volleyball SMS Grup Efeler League, is preparing for the new season with the goal of play-offs.
Competing in the Efeler League last season for the first time in its history and aiming to become permanent in the league, Gaziantep Gençlikspor finished the league in 10th place with 21 points.
The Southeastern representative, who started preparations for the new season early, is creating a local squad rotation and continuing transfer negotiations with 3 foreign players.
Head coach Ali Bağcı told the AA reporter that they missed the preparation process last season due to their participation in the league, and that they had the opportunity to prepare better for this season.
Stating that the first weeks in the league are very important, Bağcı said, "After guaranteeing to stay in the league, we want to go up in the points table as much as we can and represent Gaziantep in the best way. This year, very strong teams entered the league, but why not the top 8? I think it would suit Gazişehir." he said.
Bağcı stated that most of the local cast has been completed and said:
"We have a setter friend in our foreign player squad, Fedor Ivanov. He plays for the Finnish National Team. He is a quality player. We will transfer three more foreign players. We are going out to win every match. Last season, we had good wins in the Fenerbahçe and Halkbank matches. Why not this season, volleyball is such a sport, anyone can beat anyone. I hope we will get such victories again this year."
Stating that a player from the infrastructure was included in the squad, Bağcı said, "This year, for the first time, we added a child of our Gazi city, a player who grew up from the infrastructure, to our squad. So, one of our ultimate goals was to see the children of our own city in this squad. We achieved this this year. Hopefully, we will give volleyball lovers the opportunity to watch on the field. We will compete better with a strong squad this season." he said.
Stating that it was an honor to represent Gaziantep, Bağcı thanked the sponsors and fans, especially the protocol members who supported the club.
